Bonnie claims she can't remember very many of Bob’s puns because they were of the moment, flinging in and out of your head, going with the spark of the time, meant to be enjoyed, not catalogued. Here are some route name puns. I once did a climb called The Vision. It's one of my little favorites, going up beautiful rock above a lake, gold patches here and there, lots of glacier polish gleaming in the sun. Bob liked it too. He and Herb Laeger did a climb near it and called it "Da-Vision." Perfect, right? The “Da” kinda rubbed me a little as I was so in heaven about my little jewel. And yet the name has the perfect connotation of cutting, dividing, the rock in the place of the original route. Maybe Herb had a hand in the name too, I don’t know (you there Herb?). Then, I think, Bob and Herb came back and did "Multiplication" in the same vicinity. So now we have a multitude of routes in the area, multiplying upon one another ... I love it!

The Vision was the first thing I climbed in Tuolumne Meadows. It was me, Jim Wilson, and Chris Wegener. I was in the middle, with Jim and Chris swinging leads all the way up. It is a beautiful route, getting you high above the lake, with an awesome belay ledge after I think the first pitch. I remember sitting on that ledge on a gorgeous sunny day, just thinking how great it was to be there.

Oh, right, but back on the topic of puns -- I too have been trying to remember some, and agree with Bonnie that they were really "of the moment." He came up with some groaners, though!
