Well it's all Carrie Sundra's fault and I'll be grateful to her till the day I leave this planet! I was working at REI in Northridge when I first heard about Tues/Thurs sessions at Stoney Point. I remember Carrie and I heading out to boulder 1; had I known how my life was about to change.... well I would have gotten there sooner!
You see there were "The Silverbacks" and "The Youngbucks" and don't be fooled, those dam "Silverbacks" not only can climb their butts off, but they are mischievous as hell too! Those of you reading that know this crew are saying what an understatement this is!
There was Jim Wilson, Chris Wegener, Craig Smith, Mike Waugh, and 'The King' himself, Bob. You can imagine my surprise at my first Bob sighting! Actually, it was my first Bob hug, my first Bob spot, and my first Corona with Bob; many more followed.
We climbed that day for several hours and I was hooked on the natural high that being around Bob created. I was mesmerized at his grace, strength, agility, and focus. He was so fluid and casual on the rock. Bob always encouraged me to be my best self; as a climber and a young woman. I miss his smile and the smell of sardines after a great day of climbing in Tuolumne, J.T., or Williamson. Come to think of it, I never saw him eat sardines at Stoney!
I remember when I first met Bonnie too. Jim Wilson and I went to pick Bob up for a day of adventure and I met Bonnie in the kitchen of their beautiful home. She was so friendly and welcoming. She is an amazing woman who I admire and respect very much, and Bonnie, if you're reading this, know that you are thought of often with love and warm memories. Thanks for being who you are in the world and keep painting! Maybe someday I'll learn how to play cards and we can play together!

Much love and light,

Thanks Bob....
