For many years around the first of August we rendezvoused with climbing friends in the Needles of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Climbing near the Needles Highway brought us to the attention of Midwest tourists unable to understand what we were about. Though at first their questions and interpretations were hilarious it soon became a trial. Evy Blum and I spent an afternoon with an iron and iron-on tape to make Pinnacle Repair Service shirts for our heroes. That worked! |
